According to the definition of CLM (Council of Logistics Management) logistics “Is the method of effectively planning, storing and controlling the movement of all kinds of products, services and information flows from the starting point of the raw material to the last point where the product is consumed.” Logistics covers all activities in different fields and requires the related departments to create synergies in cooperation. The main fields of activity of logistics management are; marketing and marketing strategy, market strategy and product design, production planning, material management, inventory management, storage and material handling, distribution, warehouse and warehouse management, transportation, customs and insurance services, purchasing, customer service and technical support.
Supply chain management is focused on all customer, material and information interactions from suppliers’ suppliers to customers’ customers. In terms of business management, logistics is a process that aims to plan all activities within the supply chain, from raw material procurement to the production environment, from the completion of the production process of the final product to the distribution channels and to the customer.
In the globalization process in which we live, it is seen that real competition is experienced among the Supply Chains in the rapidly changing world of trade. Complex information technologies, the introduction of business processes into new structures and alternative solutions that they bring forward bring new problems to companies. In local and national markets, which are changing rapidly, time and costs are two of the most important competitive factors.
Increasing global competition requires that the logistics and supply chain managers of the future be equipped with modern knowledge, open to innovation and entrepreneurial individuals. The purpose of opening the Logistics Management degree program is; thanks to a modern logistics management education program, which has been prepared by taking into consideration the changing economic and market conditions in the national and international fields and the new needs brought about by these conditions;; to train qualified logistics managers of the future who are aware of the ethical, social and legal responsibilities of an enterprise, investigative, open to innovations, equipped with modern management information.
In order to provide an effective education for this purpose, our main principles are:
- To provide the students a broad knowledge about issues such as accounting, finance, business, economics, management-organization, marketing and marketing strategy, market strategy and product design, production planning, material management, inventory management, storage and material handling, distribution, warehouse and warehouse management, transportation, customs clearance and insurance services, purchasing, customer service and technical support,
- Apart from these subjects, to educate them in subjects such as leadership, behavioral sciences, communication and entrepreneurship and also mathematics, statistics, law, operational research, information processing, management information systems, which are in the position of service,
- Including courses and activities on culture, fine arts and sports that can contribute to the social development of students in our programs.,
- To improve the leadership, team building and project management skills,
- To provide students with the qualifications to communicate effectively with individuals in businesses and institutions and to create synergies in teams consisting of individuals from different disciplines,
- To ensure that students are trained in a professional business environment that can benefit from modern information technologies and tools, are willing to learn continuously, are open to innovations and can easily adapt to changes,
- To develop lifelong learning skills in areas of interest and study,
- To ensure that they grow up as individuals who are sensitive to business ethics, social responsibilities and law in their decisions and practices regarding the issues they are responsible for,
- To gain the ability to follow the developments related to the international business environment and to become familiar with the problems outside of their business environment,
- To improve the ability of problem solving and decision making by being aware of ethical values and social responsibilities,
- To develop analytical thinking and organizational problem-solving skills,
- To examine cultural differences and to raise awareness about the positive or negative effects of these differences on commercial activities and negotiations,
- To enable experts, managers and practitioners who stand out in the field of logistics management to give conferences at least once a month, to share their experiences, success and failure stories with students,
- To comprehend the national, regional and global problems, to gain the ability to bring scientific solutions to these problems,
To enable them to learn English at a level that can benefit from English information sources in the field of logistics and supply chain, communicate and discuss easily with foreign colleagues.
Career Opportunities
There is a wide range of employment opportunities for students who will graduate from the Logistics Management program. They can work in specialist and manager positions in all units related to logistics, foreign trade, marketing, purchasing, transportation (sea, air, land transport), fleet management, storage and customs clearance of public and private sector organizations. Also; job opportunities are available at universities, research centers and various regional and international study institutions.
Major Advantages of the Department
The fact that the Logistics Management department has a qualified and experienced academic staff is one of the biggest advantages of the department. National and international publications and project work of faculty members are among the strengths of the department. One of the important features of the department is that it has a modern education program and this program is renewable according to the developing conditions. The courses are aimed to be supported by industrial presentations, case discussions, group and project work, and to convey the relations between theory and practice to students as concrete as possible. In addition to compulsory courses, students are offered a wide range of elective courses. Elective courses are planned to contribute to interdisciplinary studies in line with the departmental objectives. Eight years of experience in the logistics education of the Logistics Vocational School within our university provides a separate advantage for the department.
Graduation Conditions
The Logistics Management department offers an eight-semester (four-year) undergraduate education in the English language. Students whose English level is not sufficient receive two semesters (one academic year) of English preparatory education. Its legal status is within the scope of the Higher Education Council’s definition of International Joint Programs. Total graduation credit (Corporate Credit) is 155, and ECTS loan is 240. Students who successfully complete the courses in the curriculum and whose weighted grade point average is at least 2.00 out of 4.00, are entitled to receive a bachelor’s degree.
Admission Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Transcripts from high school or any previously attended colleges.
- SAT or ACT scores (if available).
- Personal statement or essay (if available).
- Letters of recommendation (usually 1-3), (if available).
- English Qualification certificate or equivalent like TOEFl, IELTS …etc (if available).
- Passport.
- Biometric Photo.
