AIM OF THE PROGRAM
The aim of Computer Engineering Thesis / Non-Thesis Master’s Programs is to train professionals and researchers who are experts in computer engineering. Computer and informatics applications cover almost all areas. Computer experts work not only in organizations in the information sector but also in units related to information applications in organizations in every sector. In our country, there is a high need for a specialist workforce in the field of computers. It is possible for our country to make a move especially in the field of software with the increasing workforce in the field of computers, which is a labor-intensive field.
Another aim of the Computer Engineering Master’s Programs is to bring the university graduates from nearby fields to the computer field. Job opportunities are limited for university graduates in many fields in our country. Graduates in fields such as some engineering fields, science fields, mathematics and statistics may move into the computer field.
Computer Engineering Master’s Program also aims to train researchers in this field. This field is especially important for our country in terms of producing research outputs, because the development of high value-added products is based on research and development. Information technology is an advantageous field in this respect. The fact that the production of high value-added products in this field is based on human resources rather than capital provides our country with an advantage in this field.
Computer Engineering is a field that needs doctoral researchers and academicians in our country. Graduates of the Master’s Program with Thesis will be able to continue their doctoral programs.
The Computer Engineering Master’s Program offers students a choice of specific areas of specialization. It is aimed to train specialists needed in certain fields in information technologies with their specialization fields. New ones may be added to these areas in the future according to the developments in technology and developing needs.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the Computer Engineering Master’s Program can work in all areas of the information sector, from the operation and management of information systems to sales and marketing, to the production of value-added products, especially software. Graduates of the Computer Engineering Master’s Program work not only in the information sector, but also in information processing units in all sectors from health to tourism, production to trade.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Graduates of computer engineering and software engineering as well as graduates of other programs related to computer and informatics such as information systems, information management systems, electrical-electronics engineering, mathematics engineering can also apply to the Computer Engineering Master’s Program with Thesis. The Computer Engineering Non-Thesis Master’s Program is intended for a wider audience and graduates from other engineering fields and fields such as mathematics, physics, and statistics can also apply.
WHY BOTH THESIS AND NON-THESIS MASTER’S PROGRAM
Computer Engineering Master’s Programs are offered as both a thesis program and a non-thesis program for professional life, research and academic life.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
The normal duration of the non-thesis program is 3 semesters, and the normal duration of the thesis program is 4 semesters. The program with thesis is completed in 6 semesters at most. In case of absence due to valid reasons, maximum 2 semesters of registration can be frozen.
STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAM
The non-thesis program consists of 10 courses and the Master’s Term Project, while the thesis program consists of 7 courses, a seminar course and a Master’s Thesis. Courses consist of compulsory courses and elective courses. Some of the lessons are below:
- Artificial intelligence
- Artificial Learning
- Software engineering
- Database Systems and Applications
- Data Science and Data Analytics
- Computer Networks
- E-Commerce and Web Applications
- Algorithm Analysis
- Computer Architectures
- Cyber security
- Information Ethics and Information Law
- Entrepreneurship in Information Technology
PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
In the Computer Engineering Master’s Program, Project-Based Learning (PBL _Project Based Learning) method is applied.
In the lesson, the student makes a project in accordance with the learning objectives of the lesson and learns the subjects of the lesson by making a project. While some of the courses are entirely composed of projects, some of them have a project component next to the course subjects. Projects are usually done using specific tools (usually software tools). Thus, the student both gains the learning outcomes of the course and can use certain tools.
LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION OF THE PROGRAM
The language of instruction of the Computer Engineering Master’s Program is English for both the thesis program and the non-thesis program. Candidates whose level of English is not sufficient are admitted to the English Preparatory Class.
APPLICATION AND EVALUATION
The application is made by filling out the online application form on the Beykoz University website. It is mandatory to upload a diploma, transcript and a short CV during online application, and the originals of these documents are required during registration. Graduate GPA and ALES requirements are not required for applications to the Non-Thesis Master Program in Computer Engineering. A minimum score of 55 in the Quantitative (SAY) score type from the ALES exam is required to apply to the Computer Engineering Master’s Program with Thesis. Candidates who meet the application requirements for the thesis program are invited for an interview, and no interview is held for the non-thesis program. English proficiency is required for applications to Computer Engineering Graduate Programs. Candidates are required to submit a document showing that they have obtained at least 60 points from YDS / e-YDS / YÖKDİL exams or an equivalent score from an international foreign language exam accepted as equivalent by ÖSYM.
