Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department; The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, founded in 2003 by Tuğrul Şavkay, is the first Gastronomy and Culinary Arts program established in Turkey. We are dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the rich Turkish culinary culture in an academic milieu and to the promotion of this culture throughout the world. The program offers a wide range of courses on food; nutrition, food science, food hygiene, new product development, food and beverage management and marketing, food culture and history, world culinary cultures, food styling and photography, baking and pastry, classical and modern culinary techniques as well as, Turkish and Mediterranean cuisines. The department is pioneering the field of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts in Turkey. The Yeditepe University Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts has partnership agreements with the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs; “Food Culture and Development” represented by Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in Spain and “Safeguarding and Promotion of Cultural Food Heritages” represented by François Rabelais Tours University in France. The department also has a partnership agreement with ALAIN DUCASSE Education-ENSP in France; one of the most prestigious pastry/baking program in the world. Our department is the only department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department in Turkey to produce PATENTS; holding the patent for for gluten-free tarhana formulation, and its production technique.
Admission Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Transcripts from high school or any previously attended colleges.
- SAT or ACT scores (if available).
- Personal statement or essay (if available).
- Letters of recommendation (usually 1-3), (if available).
- English Qualification certificate or equivalent like TOEFl, IELTS …etc (if available).
- Passport.
- Biometric Photo.
