Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Despite being around only for the past 140 years, the discipline of psychology is among the most important scientific fields of the 21st century. Research conducted in psychology aim to bring together interdisciplinary methodologies that range from behavioral measures to neurobiological measures.
Bahçeşehir Cyprus University (BAU Cyprus) Department of Psychology offers a four-year undergraduate degree. The psychology undergraduate degree program is designed to provide students with knowledge about the major theories of contemporary psychology and techniques. It introduces students to various subfields of psychology and provides a comprehensive education in the field. The language of instruction is exclusively in English. Apart from introducing several subfields of psychology such as Developmental, Clinical, Industrial/Organizational and Health Psychology, students learn importance of ethical codes in both research and practice throughout undergraduate studies.
The lecturers in the Department of Psychology have expertise in various subfields of psychology (e.g., Clinical, Health and Social Psychology). They encourage students to critically think and adopt principles of ethics throughout learning main approaches in contemporary psychology.
In the first year of the Psychology Program, students become familiar with major theories in related to human behaviour. In the second year, students study research related courses and some of the major subfields in psychology such as developmental and social psychology. During the third year, students further study major theories in various subfields in psychology such as cognitive psychology, physiological psychology, experimental psychology and psychology of learning. In the last (fourth year), students study courses that are more related to practice which help them to prepare for professional life.
Admission Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Transcripts from high school or any previously attended colleges.
- SAT or ACT scores (if available).
- Personal statement or essay (if available).
- Letters of recommendation (usually 1-3), (if available).
- English Qualification certificate or equivalent like TOEFl, IELTS …etc (if available).
- Passport.
- Biometric Photo.
